Kindermusik Classes for Toddlers and Preschoolers
The Laugh and Learn Curriculum is for families with toddlers and/or preschoolers. The 10 weekly classes are divided into three units. Classes will be offered on Tuesday and Friday mornings at 10:00 AM, beginning the week of January 14, 2013. See the course description below for details.
Let’s Play: ‘Gee, but it’s great to meet a friend!’ Let’s Play mixes favorite toys of childhood with the magic of music and pretend play. A pretend walk to the park develops into problem solving, cooperation, and instrument play. Familiar childhood toys like teddy bears, jack-in-the-boxes, balls, and spinning tops are nestled into this unit along with luscious vocal play with silly words and rhymes. Happy times are ahead as we take a ride on a train to help us learn about accelerando and about slowing to a stop. Lesson foci of pretend play, cause and effect and prediction, and learning in a group help families learn about the ways children learn to create, assemble, and understand their world as they go about their play.”
Outside My Window: ‘I look outside my window at the start of every day. To see what kind of weather might be headed our way.’ So, we sing in this unit highlighting the seasons and the cycles of weather that go around the circle of the year. Is it a rainy day, with drip drop, puddly, splashy sounds or the cold, quiet, sparkly snowflakes of winter? Maybe the day is a perfectly bright Sally Go Round the Sun kind of day. With songs to hear, ideas to sort, patterns to see, songs to sing, and dances to share, all we need to do to start the magic is look outside the window.”
On the Go: The description for this unit has not been released yet. When the description is released, it will be posted online.
