Lesson Times
During the school year lessons are offered:
Mondays to Thursdays from 10:00 AM – 8:30 PM
Fridays from 10:00 AM – 6:30 PM
Saturday from 8:00 AM – 1:00 PM
Sunday 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM
SUGGESTED BEGINNING AGES FOR MUSIC LESSONS

For ages 4-5 we offer both piano and violin private lessons. For all other instruments, the suggested minimum age is 6 years old. For string bass, the suggested minimum age is 12 years old.

PRIVATE LESSONS

Private Lessons offer students one-on-one individualized instruction for 30, 45, or 60 minutes once weekly.

SCHEDULING

Lessons are offered year-round. The RSM year has 47 lessons September through August. Except as otherwise agreed, you will have the same lesson time each week. All scheduling is done through the office. To request a change of lesson time, please speak with someone in our office. Instructors cannot make schedule changes.

CANCELLATIONS

ORIENTATION
There is an Orientation scheduled for a portion of the first lesson. During this orientation, parents and students will meet with the instructor to discuss lesson details and expectations. New students are asked to arrive 5 minutes early to be sure necessary paperwork is completed.
EXPECTATIONS
Students are encouraged to arrive at least 5 minutes before their scheduled lesson time. Bring all books, assignments, and materials necessary to be prepared for each lesson. It is also essential for music students to put in the necessary practice time at home. Students who are the most successful are those who complete their weekly practice assignments and arrive at their lesson ready to learn!
BOOKS AND MATERIALS
As a convenience to our students, an annual fee to cover books and other materials, including trophies, recitals, etc, will be charged when registering. On the anniversary date of enrolling, a supply fee will be charged annually for all new material needed for the upcoming year.
SPECIAL ASSISTANCE TO ENSURE SUCCESS
Should an instructor sense that a student needs additional instruction with class assignments, it may be necessary to schedule additional private lessons to address specific challenges and help the student stay on task. These lessons will be scheduled at the request of the instructor as an addition to the weekly private lesson, and the standard lesson rate will apply.

I love the facility, front desk staff n the teachers. Clean n inviting environment. Karen runs the backend wonderfully. Its 1.5yrs since my kid stepped in for his first piano class. They listen n try to accommodate ur requests. My kid has thrived as a budding pianist n looks fwd to seeing Mr. John every week.

Rockwall School of Music is a fantastic organization! My daughter has been going on and off, as her schedule permits for several years. They are always very accommodating and the staff are always so kind!! They offer recitals so the students can showcase what they have learned and to help them get used to performing in front of people. My daughter has had many instructors, and she has enjoyed every single one of them!

We are so lucky to have Rockwall School of Music in Rockwall. It’s a great resource for both adults and children. My daughter took vocal lessons for many years and really enjoyed it!

I counted it one of life's richest blessings to have known Russ and Karen Porter for over 45 years as a church musician and music educator. Through the years of master degree classes and recitals, local church music ministry, and now a wonderfully successful and meaningful business adventure, I have witnessed them to be genuine and caring people serving others in so many kind, encouraging and admirable ways.
