Getting to know yourinstructor:

Karen Porter, known by her students as Mrs. Karen or Mrs. Porter, she started piano lessons at age 7. In middle school she started saxophone and fell in love with it.

Mrs. Karen knew that music would be a significant part of her life because “I had an older brother who loved music and he encouraged me in my efforts at each instrument I wanted to play”.

Mrs. Karen at Ouachita Baptist University and earned a Bachelor’s of Music in Piano Performance and a Master of Music Education at the University of North Texas.

Mrs. Karen wants her students to “enjoy music and become successful performers. Students who practice are successful and therefore enjoy playing and performing.”

…And now for something humorous from Mrs. Karen!

“I teach elementary music in public school and accompany the Mesquite Children’s Chorus. I LOVE accompanying! I also love playing the saxophone.”
